Looking at the source package from Debian experimental, a quick grep
shows which translations do not include the special control character:

the OLE document, choose Edit and then edit a copy. Same thing for

I tried performing several hibernate/resume cycles on my machine. The
screen used to go white some of the time; now the problem appears to be
fixed.

I have tested with 8.10 (the official release, not the testing debs) and
with Jaunty alpha-3 Live CD. The display size appears to be correctly
detected.

On Jaunty, the /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/dmsetup script from
dmsetup 1.02.27-4ubuntu1 fails to install
/etc/udev/rules.d/65-dmsetup.rules correctly in the initramfs: it
creates a file named /etc/udev/rules.d. I suspect this is caused by the
moving of /etc/udev/rules.d
