I didn't meant to come across as trite, so perhaps I should work on my
delivery. I find it frustrating that this bug exists (it affected me so
I had to use something else), and that some people might perceive
problems in UbuntuOne as being representative of Ubuntu specifically,

I get a similar problem. I have a backup drive labelled BACKUP that gets
auto-mounted to /media/BACKUP. Sometimes the drive powers down for some
reason or loses connection with my box but then quickly remounts. It
remounts on /media/BACKUP_ though. I'd rather it just completely fail
though instead

Each tine I use adept manager there is a request to upgrade to Gutsy version
Are you sure this is really necessary? I made the gentoo ebuild and used
a script like this:
