This sympton still exists for me in Karmic Koala (9.10) with alsa 1.0.20

Codec: Realtek ALC883
I've added my model, options snd-hda-intel model=6stack-dig but this did
not resolve the problem

If I connect to a samba share with smbclient, it connects instantly.
If I connect to a share with Nautilus, it can take minutes for it to
connect. If I use an IP address it get's a bit better.
This is on a network of several hundred Windows and Linux samba shares

acpi=off worked but xorg went into failsafe mode and I have no idea how
to fix that (plus I'd love to keep my power management working)
