An LTS version (Bionic) have it enabled and working (from 1.4.11-1.1ubuntu3),

about its lack so is confirmed was used.

done an unofficial backport on my ppa

I did a test of focal proposed build and seems ok (I'm unable to reproduce the
issue).
About bionic I already used a build with same patch for months
(https://launchpad.net/~fantonifabio/+archive/ubuntu/ubuntu-fixes), I already
tried to reproduce the crashes in november, not reproduced anymore
ok that should be before in -proposed and can take weeks to reach
-updates (more check and less risk, is ok), but this and caribou issue
that is worse (in addition to causing crashes also causes a security
issue) after long time are still not reached -proposed

also installed and tested the packages (unable to reproduce the issue with new
patch applied).
On Groovy should work with the same patch (only changing focal->groovy) but I
not tested it.

Since it was marked as "fix released" it is no longer visible among the open
ones, I already know that the fixes applied by the patch are already solved in
latest nemo version (in latest ubuntu version) but as wrote in first message I
created for a SRU for Bionic (LTS version still supported)

I tried to reproduce it (in ubuntu 20.04 with cinnamon), it create correctly a
bookmark for directories that have capital letters in path.
The only cases where don't create bookmark is when is already present in menu
(like Desktop, Documents and Download), no error when debugging, so I suppose
