Seeing similar issue here on Intel NUC6i5SYH on Dell U3415Wb monitor on
DP connector. Problem happens when manually switching monitor input from

full screen, doesn't trigger this bug.
But if I open a second project in intelliJ (in a new window) and make it
full screen as well, then switch to another application and switch back

At step 3, it is extremely slow. But if I skip step 2 and if I don't

Adding noapic to the kernel command line enabled shutdown/reboot/suspend/resume
for me, but it wouldn't boot reliably.
This issue seems to be caused by a buggy driver for the Synopsys Designware I2C
DMA controller, which is also used in the HP x360 and various other 2-in-1s and

I may be wrong about this, but there doesn't seem to be any important hardware
connected to this bus.

I'm on a ASUS eeepc Intel® Atom™ CPU N2600 and I have attempted to
upgrade this LTS 12.04 version of Ubuntu. But just before starting, I
receive a notice saying that the graphic card I currently have on this
netbook wouldn't be too compatible with the upgrade, eventually making
it run too slow.
I just get this error when I run updates, but I don't really know what it
means.
Apart from that it's been running normal, I think.
I was able to fix other bugs before through Launchpad.

I've seen users clicking a few times because of the lack of visual feedback.

Need method to disable sane from probing
It has been an issue for as long as I remember using Ubuntu.
The solution is simple, don't have a turned off printer plugged into the
parallel port.
I guess I can live with that, but it can be extremely annoying if you don't
know why your scanner isn't detected.

I upgraded another Ubuntu from 8.04 to 8.10 and this error does not occurs
there.
The main difference is that compiz is not enabled.
The computer is the same from the version where is occurring this error (only a
different partition)

Ok, fixed my problem.
I run strace xsane and found out that it was pausing while opening
/dev/parport0. I just turned on my printer (that just happens to be
connected to the parallel port) and tried again. Yo and behold, it
worked. :-)

Same here, xsane hangs for a long time on startup (about 2 minutes),
then it finally opens.
My scanner is an Epson GT-9600 and it was working great a while ago, so
I guess some recent update broke it :-(

The problem is that udev expects the scanner vendor to be Epson but
the scanner reports EPSON.
I attached a patch to fix this.

SYSFS{type}==3, SYSFS{vendor}==Epson, GROUP=scanner
and add this line:
SYSFS{type}==3, SYSFS{vendor}==EPSON, GROUP=scanner
