I was wondering why I could not launch chromium from Lubuntu desktop
since upgrading to 20.04.
The chromium package has been replaced by a stub package which just
installs the chromium snap. The desktop launcher just does not show an
entry for chromium.

Yes, I do think this is unreasonable.
It is definitely not Hetzner's task to fix Ubuntu.
Especially since that process of re-initiialization of that instance ID
is neither obvious nor documented.

I made some experiments with virtual machines with Ubuntu-20.04 at a
german cloud provider (Hetzner), who uses cloud-init to initialize
machines with a basic setup such as ip and ssh access.
During my installation tests I had to reboot the virtual machines

I tried to compare the strace of the process on both Ubuntu and Lubuntu,
which was not feasible due to a very different set of Libraries under
Ubuntu (gnome) and Lubunt (Qt).
In order to neutralize these differences I started libreoffice with the
environment variables completely

noticed that under certain conditions ffmpeg creates videos where the
video and audio get severely out of sync. It happens when using -c:v
copy and -ss before -i. See the attached Makefile to have a

I'm currently migrating containers from a 16.04 host with lxc to 18.04
with lxd, and ran into a particular problem.
I have a huge zfs pool and plenty of data. There's one zfs filesystem
mounted in /data, and several (and changing) subfilesystems mounted
under /data,

Strange side observation: My power cable was loose, and when pulling the
network cable to ensure there's no DHCP response, I accidently pulled
the power cable as well, thus forcing the machine into a hard immediate
shutdown.
