I have the same problem. I have Ubuntu 20.04, uprgraded from 16.04.
I had some issues with lsb_release recently and changed lsb_release
going by https://stackoverflow.com/questions/44967202/pip-is-showing-
I have an Nvidia GTX 1060 3gb and after upgrading to kernel 4.13.0-26 I
could not log into desktop.
Resolution at the login was very low. Running 4.13.0-1x worked.
What fixed the problem for me was upgrading the Nvidia drivers from 381
=> 384.

Extraordinarily, my phone ran out of battery. I held the power button to
try to turn it on, before I realised it had run out of battery, and the
screen's edges briefly flashed.
When I turned the phone back on after having recharged the sound worked.
No idea if it'll go again.

I have a phone I've only owned for a couple of weeks. First off had
15.04 OTA-12, then upgraded to OTA-13 which solved a Wifi issue I had.
Sometime in the meantime audio disappeared all of a sudden without me
giving it much attention first off.
