Previous versions of Ubuntu (Lucid and Maverick) have worked OK with
Compiz. What further information is required?

Unable to Connect to Garmin eTrex
I can confirm that python can't open the port and that disabling carrier
detect allows python to open the port. However, gpsbabel still has
problems:
gpsbabel -w -i garmin -f /dev/ttyUSB0 -x track,start=2010112001 -o gpx -F
/home/ian/Private/Dropbox/gps_tracks/test_waypoints.gpx
[ERROR]
I am using Maverick i386. I have the voria ppa for Samsung Netbooks

I don't think that this is a gpsbabel bug. Versions of gpsbabel that
shipped with Lucid show the same bug. Unfortunately, syslog and messages
don't provide any information. I suspect that it is either a bug in the
usb to serial driver or the kernel. If anyone can tell me how I can

However, when I installed the ppa version it seems to be fixed.

This is now resolved. I installed the latest BIOS, which fixed the
problem. I haven't tried this before as it involves re-installing Vista
and Lenovo's BIOS updater only runs under Vista.

Thanks, that does work. Howeverm if you just click the arrow. rather
than click and hold, it has the effect of clicking the Shutdown button.
IMHO this is a useability/interface bug. A single click should open the
submenu.

none of the special keys (volume, screen brightness,etc) work. They all
worked correctly with KDE 3.5.
