This is a very difficult issue because it amounts to a fairly major
feature change underneath. Every access has to be wrapped by a
permissions check, followed by an authentication. Someone tried to patch
this into the file manager a while back, but the patch never got
approved.

GTK theme resets after several
The integrated card does not work regardless of nouveau.noaccel=1 or
OSX's graphics card selection. The discrete card only works when
nouveau.noaccel=1 and OSX has the discrete card selected.
(In any of these situations that cause a crash, if quiet splash is
present, the kernel locks up.
Also, good to note: I made sure to let my computer sit for 10 seconds
between any kind of reboot. Waiting this long actually makes rEFIt come
up a lot faster, and any OS boot gets past the initial rEFIt logo phase
faster as well, so it seems to make a difference.

Forgive me for not understanding the interactions between Ubuntu and its
variants, but if Ubuntu says yes we support it, and the variants say
no, we specifically remove it then isn't it the job of each to do what
they say? (For example, if Ubuntu supports PA, it supports it 100% as
the default,

the shots? Is Ubuntu planning on implementing PA but the variants are
slow to respond? If the variants are official, and Ubuntu decided to
have PA, why don't the variants have it as well?

The artifacts are actually lines of pixels from the Firefox window I
have open. Sometimes I can see entire portions of a web page in there.

Hello from across the Linux universe. I'm a Gentoo user, and in my quest
to solve a 2.6.28 problem I saw this bug report. I thought I'd give you
guys what I know so far and the Ubuntu devs can do with it what they
want.
XSCALE causes a crash very early in boot on 2.6.28 kernels:

This one's easy to reproduce: just try to check the System setting box
on any wireless network that's already created under the existing user.
Note that, when you click OK, you are not asked for your password, and
the System setting box is unchecked when you go back in to
