just like any other misbehaving hardware device.
Even if this means most devices will need to be blacklisted? Wouldn't it
require an extreme amount of effort to start blacklisting every mouse

Been testing and I have seen that unpatched compiz has been using the
same amount of ram over time, and this patch really works well. Hopw it
gets merged into the main compiz soon.

I think I may have gotten sudo -E /usr/lib/update-notifier/package-
data-downloader to work. I had to export the following variables as
below:

HOORAY!!!
Hopefully this fix will make its way into the repositories. While I
don't mind compiling my own stuff, I like updates from the repos better.

some other window manager (like pekwm, wmii) other than the default DE's
for ubuntu or xubuntu (gnome and xfce).

disconnected, removed it from wireless connections

(fn-f7 / fn-f8) functioned properly - after upgrading to 10.04 not anymore

Rock on! I am typing this from Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha 3 running on a live
stick. I have tested wireless and wired on the exact same hardware and
both work out-of-the-box (figuratively speaking, of course).

I can confirm this is still an issue on 9.10 for me, and it is an issue
with the new knetwork manager not limited to Broadcom devices.
