That's pretty sad, it's not possible to refresh an app icon. I have an
app for the calendar where the icon shows the current weekday and day of
the week/month. However if I don't log out, and back in, there's no
chance to get the icon updated :(

Sorry, it's 2014, and the geode things were way too slow, especially
with the 100mbit ethernet. We've switched all (or most) that are used as
desktop computers to Zotacs (with gbit and faster cpus and nvidia video
cards).

Amazingly,
echo reboot /sys/power/disk
echo disk /sys/power/state
The above pair of command works for the suspend/hibernate!
After executing it goes to suspend/hibernate and then after pressing
power button it successfully turns on back to its past state!
Also, need to mention:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspendHibernateResume#Dead.2C_Blank.2C_or_Black_Screen_on_Resume
grub nomodeset option doesn't resolve this exact issue.

zenideas# sudo bash /usr/share/checkbox/scripts/suspend_test --full
This script will attempt to suspend and resume your computer a number of times.
Should the machine fail to resume, first attempt to manually resume it. If
that fails power your system off and on which will generate an apport bug
