Further update on this bug: I have two machines, both running Ubuntu 10.10 Amd64. One of them is affected by this bug, while on the other the Wammu menu bar shows correctly. Please find attached a list of the installed packages on both machines, hope this helps in investigating the cause.

I'm experiencing this issue too, with an Intel 965 VGA. Moreover, since the upgrade to Lucid I have also experienced simlar graphics problems with other applications, namely XMBC and Gnome-Shell. They are both not usable in my configuration, but they worked perfectly before the upgrade.
