There is an issue when the Vulkan mesa RADV drivers are compiled with
LLVM 8, due to an LLVM 8 bug,
As insane as it seems... Reverting back to EXT4 from BTRFS fixed the
problem...
So for me, it is an issue when BTRFS is used as root partition.

As the title says, on this laptop the brightness controls are NOT saved

What is saved instead, is only the keyboard brightness.

memory, even small amounts, the system becomes completely unusuable and
the screen freezes up, no mouse movement, no TTY access or

Tried all those values through HDAAnalyzer, but nothing relevant
changed, the noise is still there.
A note: In Windows or FreeBSD i was not using any echo cancel software,
the noise is just not present. There is still tjhe normal environmental
one, but not the robotic one only present on Linux.
So yes even with the module-echo-cancel enabled is still happening, I'll
try modifying the realtek patch on the kernel

A temporary workaround is to switch gdm to another display manager
Well there is another problem when you update the drivers on Intel you
can't open the nvidia settings, just save the old nvidia-settings and
libs from /use/lib
On Ubuntu 18.04 is present only if you update the drivers from the

Oh actually no I don't know...It's really strange and frustrating when
this happens, because I was able to reproduce the problem on an Ubuntu
18.04 based distro using GDM as display manager... A way to make it
working is to run "vulkaninfo" as sudo once, it works, then also without
sudo is back to

I was wrong, you don't need to update.
Basically just works once when you first install on a fresh system the
nvidia proprietary drivers and reboot, in the first reboot it is already
using NVIDIA instead of Intel, and when this happens, all Vulkan
programs are running just fine. The problem comes

After installing Ubuntu 18.10 and the Nvidia driver + Vulkan-Utils,
switching to NVIDIA and then running vulkaninfo or vulkan-cube works
perfectly.
But when you reboot and update, then switch to Intel, then back to Nvidia, all
Vulkan programs give an
"Assertion `!err'
Another issue as well in Ubuntu 18.04 and NVIDIA 390.00

Sorry for the late reply, but I reported the bug to the upstream developers
(Hau, from realtek.com) and I helped them to solve the problem. Then, they
finally gave me a beta debug driver, after some tests, which seems to solve the
problem.
I don't know if those patches are currently committed

I've got an SDD which makes my system (laptop) very fast to start. The problem
happens when I got into lightdm and I don't wait a couple of seconds for the
battery icon to show up and I log in my user.
I don't know how but this broke completely my desktop and icon themes.
The problems seems to happen also in debian testing, reported upstream.
