Like the other person above, I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 on the Intel
Core i72600 (SandyBridge), but I am using the integrated graphics.
Running into exactly the same problem in both the Unity and Xubuntu
Desktops.

I am getting the following error message:

This is after attempting to set the proxy via:
$ export http_proxy=username:passw...@my.proxy.org:port
This
wonderful, and many of the rest quickly
switched to a right-handed theme.
From here this looks like it is going to be one of the best if not the
best Ubuntu release so far; most definitely, it's the fastest.

An person without an open mind would not leave Windows for Linux.

However, I am in a school environment where I assign students to
computers. I try to accommodate student preferences to a certain
extent, but a number are just assigned to a computer that meets the
requirements to
Optimus 55, if you don't like the ability to customize your desktop or
implement alternative themes, there are a number of proprietary
operating systems that already accommodate you. As for Ubuntu, one of
the really neat things is that it does have a number of themes that ship
with it as well as
like the buttons on the right, as is my
personal preference for the time being, then, put them on the right.
Unlike the GUIs found on some other proprietary operating systems, you
have the freedom to implement it however you would like.

In a school environment, there are a large number of users, both
students and mainly older staff, who have just recently learned to
consistently locate the power button and shut down the machine from
within the operating system. My concern is in providing support for
transitioning these users
I can confirm this behavior as well. I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04

I am thinking that it is related to bug 361565. Our network admin has
set up the Squid Client so that it is no longer necessary to go through
the proxy to get to the Exchange Server. Email now goes out without a
problem.
(Is there some way to link or combine these two bugs and mark the
