Changing the mouse poll rate doesn't fix the problem for me either (oneiric, geforce gt240m, logitech performance mx mouse). choppyness happens with all my (logitech) mice and also the internal touchpad. But the choppyness is gone, the moment I release the mousebutton and stop moving the mouse.

@Christophe Van Reusel strangeI get no mute checkboxes, but instead a new auto-mute checkbox. But this does not get the desired result. I know about the normal audio controls, but these won't do the trick. My laptops internal sound card really sucks, it emitts a slight hissing sound
