and the media buttons seems to be activated by the heat or pressure of the

I second a solution based on a stale image from just before it was
minimized + an overlay.
This is a major usability issue, and since we cannot wait for X11 to be
redesigned, we need to work with what we have so that Compiz windows
shifters are as usable as possible.

That bug was marked as a duplicate of bug #254468, which is supposed to have
been fixed in Jaunty. Sounds promising.
Overall, with Jaunty's X 1.6 and the new Nvidia 180.x drivers, it will be very
interesting now to see if this bug is fixed for some Nvidia users at least.

I have found at least the real bug with my login. .xsession was empty (0
bytes), and the following introduced the bug again:
touch ~/.xsession
Removing it:
rm ~/.xsession
...then enables login again without using the failsafe option.
