Couldn't the Appearance setting tool have a script which would change
the dconf value? I'm mainly saying it would be a workaround, having set
the wallpaper myself from within the session.
That said, I haven't tried it for an encrypted Home directory, so I
can't confirm it would fix it.

It would appear this only occurs when the system is started up with an

I can confirm that multi-touch does not work on touch-enabled Wacom. My
laptop's screen is detected as a Wacom touch interface and it does not
offer multi-input.
This is mainly due to the removal of the evtouch module, as it did not
receive much upstream development, and whose code wasn't quite
@Chase : I reverified the list of available input devices, my screen was
indeed detected as a Wacom screen with touch.

Based on what I saw, it appears to be an issue with nouveau's handling
of KMS.
A workaround is to switch to a different virtual terminal and back to
tty7.

I've been having a similar issue with my HP Elitebook 2470p, except that
it only affects resume from suspend after approximately every three
uses.
I unfortunately have not been able to test this in a scientific method
as the laptop is mainly used for work.

I can confirm I'm not a Ubuntu developer.
I'll look to see if I can video the touch support in previous releases
as demonstration. I used to be able to use two finger pinch and scroll,
and was really hoping to use Natty's other touch-based interactions.
Incidentally, I'm not using a Wacom
Thing is, it was working in Maverick as well as earlier Natty builds.

This issue is present on kernel 2.6.32-24, which, as you know, is used
by the LTS release.
I tested with a Dell Latitude E6410, as well as with an EEEPC. The
EEEPC worked fine, but the Latitide does not show any display. I was
able to install by using an alternate installer.

I would like to further explain this issue:
The Software Centre as is uses the gtkrc fg_color to display the text.
This causes the text to appear in the selected foreground color, which
is usually a shade of white on darker themes.
A simple fix would be to set the Software Centre to use the

Log out and back in. It's possible Compiz won't be enabled, just enable
it and it should keep working afterwards.

I found a simple work around this. Installing the earcandy volume
manager took care of the seven second delay, and even provides a nice
fade in, making things easier on the ear.
I think it's safe to declare this issue resolved.

Yes I have. It might have been a minor hiccup, I could re-try the
install just to be sure.
