The pdftops CUPS filter script, replacing /usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftops fixes this problem for me (using a Ricoh MP C2000). Unfortunately, installing the CUPS security upgrade today replaced the script with the original binary blob, which in turn brought the problem back. Any way to avoid this
