I believe bug #303587 is related to this problem.
Since doing - run sysctl kernel.randomize_va_space=0 before using gcl is a
workaround for that bug.

Very anoying bug, this one.
Takes many minuttes until the GUI shows up.
Until then it's not obvious that I actually tried to start the program.
Which often causes me to start evolution twice.

I have tested in a newer version of ubuntu (9.04)
With version 2.0.0.21+nobinonly-0ubuntu1.9.04.1 it does not crash.
