The current updated maverick kernel renders my integrated ethernet
completely unusable ! The ethernet link always stays down.
I have noticed on my ethernet switch the following difference between old
2.6.32-25.44, current 2.6.35-22.35 and devel 2.6.36-020636.201010210905 :
- before boot at

When the system boot eth link is often OK and up. But then upon
suspend/resume, it might not come back up.
EVEN unloading/reloading the module e1000e several times does not fix the
problem. The eth link is working well in windows
and the fix I reported in the initial comment has no effect, the link
came back at random when unloading/reloading the e1000e module. (2nd
update of maverick kernel).

With K2.6.35-22.35 Eth works at boot (not every time), then once the

The problem is on open, not on save which obviously I cannot do !
Openoffice.org in karmic did not worked well either but no hard lock was
observed. It was unable to open nfs files R/W because it was always
reported nfs files are locked by 'unknown' (another known bug of ooo on
NFS).

With Lucid and firefox 3.6.3 I still have to do like in comment #198 for
webcam to work under flashplayer in firefox !

exactly same problem for me on thinkpad X40
after upgrade from karmic to lucid network worked but I experienced some kernel
freeze lots of times and once this problem have been fixed my network manager
icon was always greyed out and unmanaged.
Removing the stale file made it work again
