Seeing this same problem on 11.04, linux-image-generic 2.6.38.10.25.
Disabling cron.d/mdadm for now, but would like to see a better solution
eventually. Probably going to move our kvm images off onto NAS anyway
though.

Is there a workaround for this on 10.04.2? I'd rather that the bond
came up the first time so the subsequent network dependent daemons could
run properly rather than having to do a /etc/init.d/networking restart
in rc.local as suggested by the forum thread.

Late command is wonky too. I have to install it twice because the first
one fails. This is what I have in my preseed/late_command script:
# sudo-ldap
SUDO_FORCE_REMOVE=yes
export SUDO_FORCE_REMOVE=yes
apt-get -y install sudo-ldap
# first attempt will fail on 10.04 so do it again

does it for me on Natty 11.04:

After more investigation, I found the root of the problem is that the
firmware files rtl_nic/rtl8168d-2.fw and rtl_nic/rtl8168d-1.fw were
not being properly installed by d-i hw-detect/load_firmware boolean
true. Without the firmware loaded, the interface has the unfortunate
tendency to go down

RTL8168d/8111d gigabit. It DHCPs and configures just fine. Then it
downloads what it needs for partitioning and does that. After
partitioning, it runs net/hw-detect.hotplug

Is there something I'm missing that makes having the window managers be
responsible for the system bell so attractive? And regardless, should
the discussion continue here or in a new bug for Coherent handling of

I see this problem too, but it isn't cured by a restart. Package files
are somehow getting corrupted by acng, and this on two separate
installations. I have to go in and clear out the old files from the
cache to fix it.
