Hooray - issue solved by update this morning!
This morning there was a Samba update to samba 3.0.27a-1ubuntu1.
After that things merged and everything works fine. I have samba installed and
my files shared.

here is a screenshot that shows the problem. You can see a map with
three photos in it. Two of them ha a upper-case extensions and the other
one a lower-case. The uploader of the website shows only the image with
the lower-case extension.

I have a problem with upper-case and lower-case file extensions
This is what I noticed: when I look on a regular photo-site where you can
upload one or many photo(s) (.jpg-files)

yes it is Nautilus that appears after I've pushed the 'upload-button' on
a site. That is the way many sites do. Now I can choose which images I
want to upload, but I only can see images with a lower-case jpg file
extension - not the upper-case ones. And that is my problem - I
I don't know if it's happen with another user on the same machine.
I'm not there anymore :s. I suggest her to reinstall the machine if she isn't
happy with the problem.

I have a fresh install of feisty herd 2 (downloaded 30min. ago) and also
add/remove ... didn't work.

I can only update with the terminal now and for me it isn't fixed. I run feisty
and the problem came with the dist-upgrade / new control center.
That is the same time the music in my notebook stops! I have no sound at all
since the upgrade :s
