Packages tried: plasma-desktop (native to kubuntu), kopete (included in

Ok. I've discovered the way to fix this is to do the following.
Open /boot/grub/menu.lst in a text editor:
Search for defoptions= and add the vga=791 after # defoptions=quiet
splash
Then search for /boot/vmlinuz and add vga=791 to the end of the line

Do you need more information? I really don't know how much more I can give. If
you could give me a command which would force the comp to reboot with the nv
driver applied and then direct me toward a log, I might be able to provide more
information if needed.
