pages. A process using up 100+ MB of virtual memory isn't actually a
problem. For comparison, on my machine, a bit of mental arithmetic shows
that the top few processes shown by System Monitor have over 8 GB of
memory mapped,
I think they should both be in there, so people can choose for
themselves what sort of problems they want to experience. I've never
seen any video websites that don't work with the 64-bit plugin, and no
matter what package is in the repositories, you're not being forced to
run anything.

Sorry, I disagree that this should be a question, because there is an
actual problem here.
As a GNOME user, when I install a KDE 4 application, the recommends
should pull in a utility that is capable of changing the look and feel
settings. Even in the absence of this, installing systemsettings
deeflex, you should take the time to read the rest of the comments,
since adding that directory to the runtimepath is apparently a hack that
the package maintainer doesn't support. I don't think it was ever a good
idea to install plugins disabled by default, but it's also not a good
idea to do

I just modified the latest flashplugin-nonfree package from intrepid to
install the 64-bit alpha instead of the stable version of flash, and
uploaded the resulting package to my webspace. Interested users can use
it to install the 64-bit alpha without getting their hands dirty.
