I followed the instructions on this site :
http://www.techlw.com/2012/08/install-amd-catalyst-128-drivers-in.html
When the window pops up for installing the catalyst, I choose to 'Generate
distribution specific driver package'.
After this was done, I did
dpkg -i *.deb
And
I think it has been removed from the repository.
Can you confirm this? If it's removed, it isn't relevant here anymore and the
bug can be closed...

I just checked, apparantly the bug has been fixed upstream about a year ago...
I tested it locally and I can't seem to find the password stored locally
anywhere.
