I'm also facing the same issue after the upgrade to 13.04. It was
actually a direct upgrade from 12.10 to 13.04. I'm using a 64 bit OS.

The issue still persistsI'm using dell studio laptopin each
restart, the system forgets the screen brightness...so I had to manually
set it always...Hope we can expect a fix soon

I've updated the patch just released. Messaging menu started showing
unread messages when new messages come. But no change in color. It
should change to blue.

I was trying to create ubuntu 12.10 installation disk using usb-creator-
gtk. In the final stage, the application crashes. I tested this
behaviour in ubuntu 12.10 - 32 bit and 12.10 - 64bit and it crashes.
Attached image will give more details.
Multiple users are having the same issue. I guess, it's some soft of
bug. Need more investigation from the developers I guess.

Daniel. Thanks for the update. I've fixed the issue by temporarily
reverting back the graphics driver back to xserver-xorg-video-ati
driver. I think proprietary fglrx driver is not compatible with 12.10.
But it was working fine in 12.04 though.

I can hear sounds when new message receives. But no indication in the
messaging menu (no unread email status and no color change). I'm using
gmail configured as imap. It was working perfectly with 12.04 LTS. And
also pidgin integration is also not working (I know it's abit out of
