Thanks! From looking at the log, everything seems to be fine. EDID is
read out, and it sets up 1024x768@85 which is the mode preferred by the
monitor. At the end of the log, 1024x768@60 is set, I suppose this is
something Gnome does, maybe because of a user preference in
~/.config/monitors.xml.

AFAICS, all the attached logs show 800x600 being used. Anyway, the Gnome
failsafe option does not affect the monitor probing in the driver, which
here seems to fail to get any EDID information. Maybe Gnome applies a
strange DPI value? Do you have a .config/monitors.xml file?

This should identify most of the xorg-edgers packages.
With all of the packages listed, install the normal natty packages, like this:

A minidlna package has been released in Debian now, so it should end up
in natty+1: http://packages.qa.debian.org/m/minidlna.html

Was anything done to investigate the reason for this crash? Now we have
glew 1.5.7.is.1.5.2-1ubuntu1 in natty, which seems like sweeping
things under the carpet. I would guess the newer glew merely triggers a
bug elsewhere (nux?) and is not really at fault here. BTW, wouldn't
My guess is that compiz, while checking if it is possible to run on your
card (which it probably is not), makes X crash.

In comment 15 you said no image appear, but do you see the corruption
other places on the screen? If you press 'f' to render to the front
buffer, do you see the image? It seems from your log that the front
buffer is correctly set up for tiling but the back buffer is not.

Note that the xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd package is obsolete. All
radeon cards use the xserver-xorg-video-ati (radeon) driver for 2D, mesa
for 3D and the kernel for modesetting in most cases. r300_dri.so is part
of the mesa OpenGL libraries.

It is probably something else that I am seeing. I have plymouth showing
up, but since I do not have radeon in the initrd it is only for a
fraction of a second. With 2.6.38-1-generic, 2.6.37-12-generic,
2.6.36-1-generic and 2.6.35-22-generic I see the flash of white lines
after plymouth, on
Tested on a pretty clean Maverick install:
With 2.32.0-ubuntu2.1 brasero would just abort after clicking on Create Image.
With 2.32.0-ubuntu2.2 from maverick-proposed, it now ask kindly to install

I am using metacity since compix crashed (bug 712810). I launched an
xterm but there is only garbage in the window, and also around, on the
desktop and adjacent windows (unless they are redrawn). This is on
today's live image.
