Experiencing same issue as above. Seemingly out of no where all
keyboard shortcuts have ceased to work. The isssue only occurs in GIMP,
and not other apps or OS shortcuts.
Log shows following errors that may or may not be applicable:
script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error,
asked to register item
@Ian Gibbs, are you sure that your instance isn't simply running an end-
of-lifed Ubuntu release (such as 19.04 Disco)? That was the difficulty
when I was suffering just now from similar behavior as described in this

So this was caused because I still had "nomodeset" in my grub, which I
had needed for the monitor to work after the initial install. Once I
took it out, everything works fine. Oops.

I was having issues with the MythTV backend locking up and having a lot
of mysql processes with a status of waiting for metadata lock. This
seems to have been caused by autocommit=false (which I believe is new
