Upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 crashed my computer

I ran fschk -y with a live cd (flash), it found one bit in one file that it

Err, well, actually, I'm so extremely happy that I have my system running with
no cpu freeze issues, I try not to reboot it at all, because sometimes when I
do, i get the cpu freeze issue. Can't afford that, I need my computer for work.

Frequently when a window pops up, it is transparent, it has no content.
This happens a lot with Thunderbird and with Gimp, also in Eclipse. The
file I attached is a screenshot of a popup in Eclipse. It has no
content, instead it shows the Eclipse editor that's behind it.
I have been working with no problems since Jan. 20. Today an Ubuntu
update wanted me to reboot, then after reboot the computer froze when I
started Android Studio. Rebooted again, same, and again. What seems to
help is when I type

My computer hasn't frozen in over a week. I haven't rebooted, until this
morning when an Ubuntu update wanted me to reboot. Now the freeze issue
is back, seemingly worse than before. 3 reboots didn't change this.
I noted that in "System Monitor", CPU2 gets stuck at 100%. However, when

Nouveau worked fine, but I can't seem to run Android Studio on a live

I haven't tried this particular bug with nouveau. The reason I use
Nvidia drivers is that I couldn't get my system to work with nouveau. I

the first reboot after that. I rebooted just to see if that wouldn't
bring back the bug. I usually don't reboot that often. I checked the
overclock rate, it's at "no overclock" (i.e. 100%).

computer, did everything I could to reproduce the crash, but it didn't happen.

I am still experiencing this issue. Not just with Android Studio, it also
happened when loading a file in Gedit. CPU2 goes to 100% and stays there, while
Gedit or AS stops responding. In the System Monitor "Processes" tab, no
processes are taking more than 1 or 2% of a CPU. The process that
When I reported this, I was on Ubuntu 15.04. I don't know the version of
apport, I update Ubuntu whenever there's an update, so I suppose I had
the latest apport for 15.04 at that date.

CPU busy for 100% for up to five minutes, during which tme other
programs stop responding too. But then, when AS stops using that CPU,

That makes it hard to select the shell window and start typing. I have

After I installed a new video card, this bug made it entirely impossible
to start Ubuntu. I re-installed Ubuntu, without full disk encryption.
