I have fixed the problem for my dell inspiron 9300 with the following
script syncing the volumes of the master channel with those of the
subwoofer and the headphones. I have added the script to the startup
programs.

I believe he meant that empathy does no longer display the default image in the
tooltip of people without avatar...
Which was the most common case to see the problem, as the default image is
transparent. But people can still have a transparent avatar which will not
display correctly.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: python-markdown
When installing python-markdown on Lucid, dpkg reports:
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/python-markdown_2.0.3-1_all.deb
(--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/markdown', which is also in package markdown

I have the same problem, maybe 1/5 startups... That's quite annoying, as
this was already the same with Hardy: But Hardy was at the beginning of
compiz setup by default, so there was the excuse of the new component.
Now this should not be the case anymore!
I wait some time for updates...
Hello,
If no-one care about his one (a 4 years old laptop series: If no-one cared
before, I think that will remain!)... just setup the script hereupper for
startup:
-copy it in /usr/local/bin/ which is a good location for such user stuff...
-setup rc.local to launch it at startup:
sudo gedit
I've the same problem since 9.10 !
I can't tell for further versions but i've no problem to connect with my OSX
computers.

Hi,
I had the same problem with my card (E506R), updating to a newer kernel fixed
the bug.
Does the fix will be added to the standard Ubuntu kernel ?

On a 7600Go (Toshiba p100 laptop), a variant of #87 worked:
1) Allow FB for initramfs:
echo FRAMEBUFFER=y | sudo tee /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash
sudo update-initramfs -u
2) Checking highest (highest resolution and color depht) FB mode supported by
hardware (requires hwinfo):
sudo apt-get
Did you mean Not going to change for Lucid?

After some more hacking in DSDT, I found that fan control is located in
ACPI EC (embedded controller) address space : VTMP acpi byte in acpi EC
bit field, at offest 0x5E.
If found some similar concerns on some acer laptops (having the same WMI
related acpi methods, located in device AMW0), with a
