It is a bug, in my former reports, it was correct. I upgraded both times
with update-manager (I prefer terminal to most things, but for that,
graphics is necessary for me), and in me first bug reports, it was
correct. I will need to debug apport-bug :–).

I have the same error, but I was able to solve it by editing
sourceslist.py and removing the .sources disablement.
PS: I reported the same bug a bit later, but when I changed its status,
the bug report disappeared.

I had the same problem, just with a simple crash rather than „Oh, no!
Something went wrong and the system cannot recover” screen.

/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/aptsources/sourceslist.py (I attached the
fixed version as a patch to this message). It disabled .sources
extension to the handled files, causing that problem.
