I can still see this on 2.6.20-8-generic. And it's still being fixed
upstream http://bughost.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1096 , so I don't
see this a fixed released. Am i missing something ? Because booting with
kill switch off still hangs on my Thinkpad T60.

submit a specification for this or a Wish on http://bugs.kde.org
You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu
Just a final question before trying to pass this on to KDE people: Was
this available in previous releases , or is it an enhancement request ?

hardware acceleration support. When you fixed your acceleration, by
disabling AIGLX support, the underlining went away.
