I hope this is some kind of a tasteless joke If you really, really,
really insist on having a visible folder inside the home dir, you can
just create a ln - Snap linking to .snap (or whatever the real folder
would be). I wont repeat everyone, but totally agree with them

I can confirm the behavior of Impress, described in post #8.
A new window id created, but with empty, transparent content.
I tried on the same PC with a live USB of Sabayon linux - strangely, the slide
show starts without a problem.
I wild guess this might be connected with video driver

I have exactly the same problem on the same laptop model( thinkpad x40,
2371) with Ubuntu 11.10. It might be gnome related problem, since I used
the same laptop with Kubuntu, and dont remember getting it.

The Upstart file I posted on #153 +autofs5 installed(very important)
solves it for me on 10.10. over wifi. Autofs has to be installed, or the
bug will stay. Today i found this is the working combo for me. You might
want to try this with Natty, i was planning in the next few days, too
tired today.

I got this bug on my Kubuntu 10.10 and 11.04 machine
Adding this conf file solved the problem for me on Kubuntu 10.10, but on 11.04
the bug is present even though the upstart job kicks off( the NAS is mounted)

+ I have sloppy video playback.

Lucid has none of these problems.
Just for the protocol - when upgrading desktop effects were set to none...
