I would hope that the appropriate person responsible for kernel issue

I just had my 10.04 update from Linux 2.6.32.32 to 2.6.38.10 - a pretty
major jump. I have never seen thins increment in updates. It was made
available in the normal Update
An old Gateway laptop (W730-K8X) with the Broadcomm with b43-fwcutter
and ndiswrapper installed. it's a BCM4318 variant.
This is a fresh, updated Lucid install.
The wireless connection is hidden and originally I could not get a
connection at all, unless I entered sudo modprobe b43 at each boot.
This needs to be also nominated for Lucid, and one would think that
after 3 years it would have been assigned to someone... :)

Been doing some research, confirmed that there is nothing in my
blacklist file, and I have installed and run B43-fwcutter. bcmwl-
kernel-source and bcmwl-modaliases are also installed. The broadcom-
sta.. are not. Modprobe ndswrapper confirms that that module is not
found.

This is because of a problem in Windows. I have been working with a developer
and this feature has been restored in a test version of Avidemux 2.6. Please
see the Avidemux message boards for details and testing info (Link in post
#4)..
My understanding is that it won't be replaced in 2.5,
Still broken in Avidemux 2.5.3
Can we please get someone to look into this? Avidemux is the only
Ubuntu video editor that allowed logos or watermarks to be
superimposed on the video!

Upon rebooting I get Kernel Panic. Not synching VFS. Unable to mount root on
unknown block (8,1)

the Home Folder icon in Places and move it to a Panel, then release
the mouse to place a shortcut there.
This is now not possible.

Acceptable workaround found, but still interested in why it was changed.
Open your home folder.
Then from there drag the folder button to the top panel.

Contrary to statement:
The upstream fix is in karmic.
Changed in libatasmart (Ubuntu):
status: New → Fix Released
In marked duplicate bug, this issue is still affecting Karmic as of today's
updates on a new install.

CUPS is not loaded, and it is not possible to print.
When selecting SystemAdministrationPrinting, there is no option to
add new printer (It is grayed out).
