The 'grub workarounds' DID work for me (Lubuntu 16.04 on 1000H; once I
stumbled across right search keywords, they are 'easy' do/try, tho I
don't understand HOW they work).

Ubuntu better. This problem is with the iplayer, not Firefox and as far
as I can tell

This problem concerns radio only. Since I'm outside the UK I can only
receive audio on the BBC iplayer, not video.
BBC iplayer works in listen live mode, but not in listen again mode
(i.e to play a programme that has already been aired).
