The propose of this package is to control users from using the computer
and web filtering. So, it should be very useful for parents (like me).
What I found out is that it simply doesn't work!
Doesn't prevent user from login, tough a notify popup 'informs' the user that
the session will be open

I build the driver from ftp://x.org/pub/individual/driver/xf86-video-
ast-0.89.9.tar.gz and now the module loads fine... but xorg still does
not load.

A workaround for pidgin is to go to the Advanced tab in the Account
properties and change the Encodings to UTF-8,CP1252 and check the Auto-
detect incoming UTF-8. This will mimic the X-Chat behavior.

I think the problem reported in

In the /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-nkc file you can have two drivers:
nvidia and nvidia_new you should have nvidia_new (!), After changing the
file just reboot.

options nvidia_new NVreg_Mobile=1 NVreg_RegistryDwords=PerfLevelSrc=0x

I'm on Hardy and I don't have other OS's and even if I had it's hard to
test it because of the randomly manner of the problem.
I'm now testing with this options (/etc/modprobe.d/options):
options nvidia NVreg_RegistryDwords=PerfLevelSrc=0x

No, but for now no problems yet with this settings.
There are some problems with the latest nvidia drivers with some laptops. So
the DELL's support just told me to try this.
The problems with the drivers it's because the PowerMizer feature.
If no problems in a week I will report here.

In my DELL Laptop (Precision M90) for some months and in a randomly
manner my video output (monitor) just sends me garbage (like an out of
sync). Even if I go to the console (Ctrl+F1) the video is in 'garbage
mode'. Some times this problem doesn't happens one day but the next
Still with this annoying problem. Randomly and out of nothing my video output
is 'out of sync'... :-S
I viewed all logs after this error occurred but nothing appears.
hope this is not hardware related... :-(

Sometime I just see garbage on my monitor (maybe a out of sync) even when I go
to a console (ALT+F2) the monitor doesn't display correctly.
Work around is to suspend my laptop and wake it up. After going back up all
it's fine again!?
