Public bug reported:
When updating my system with the new kernel revision 3.13.0-34-generic via
update-manager the virtualbox kernel modules
could not be built.
It seems that the virtualbox 4.1 series is not compatible with 3.13.0 kernels.
It worked till 3.11.0-26-generic the last kernel

Hi,
the described bug also hit me (as described in the mentioned forum threads, see
post #2 here).
It was fixed by the kernel 2.6.32-62.125 from lucid-proposed. Thanks.

For me the kernel from lucid-proposed (2.6.32-62.125) also fixed this problem.
The cause and fix for the problem are described in

My apt-get crashed also in CheckDep. See the attached gdb backtrace.
But the main problem is that the package cache handling code seems not
to be very robust. There are dozens of crashes related to problems with
the package cache files filed here in Launchpad. Like this bug:
Forgot to mention that I'm using Hardy and that the used file system for the

No power failures or any interrupted updates done that may give a hint why the

In a similar way my apt-get crashes also. I described my problems in bug

This kind of bug needs a higher priority for fixing it judging from the lots of

I think the patch that I did upload should not be integrated into the

It only works around the fact that the name for the control device

Hi,
I tested gthumb today on Lucid beta 2 with all updates installed. This

Trying the same with an SmartMedia card without any video files

It seems that the Ubuntu packagers still have the half way to go:
pir...@...:~$ apt-cache show gthumb | grep Version
Version: 3:2.11.2.1.is.2.10.11-0ubuntu1
The version starts with 2.11.2 but really seem 2.10.11 to be packaged.
I hope that this issue will be resolved before Lucid is released.
Tested to import the same data as mentioned in comment #23. But instead
of putting the CompactFlash card into my card reader I kept it in my
camera (Canon PowerShot A85).
This way I could import all the files including the movies. No problems
with any assertions that deal with the progress bar.
In the meantime I didn't test only with the Desktop Live CD but also
installed the system on a harddisk. Surprisingly the kernel oops doesn't
happen when booting from the harddisk even with kernel modesetting
enabled.
This has been tested on 2.6.32 -14 -15 and -16.25 kernels.
