Problem solved.
To install Ubuntu on encrypted partitions, the usual steps are: 1) boot
liveDVD and try Ubuntu. 2) manually mount encrypted partitions with a
cryptsetup command. 3) Launch the installer.
I've always typed something like this:
cryptsetup luksOpen $my_partition WHATEVER

cryptsetup removed from initrd.img on
red-dwarf is a previous LVM PV name. It looks like I have some cruft
left over from a previous installation in the file: /etc/initramfs-
tools/conf.d/cryptroot. I just deleted it.
I am booted into a backup installation (12.04) on a different hard disk.
I am unable / don't_know_how to boot into

I've Kubuntu 12.10 Quantal
Help About Extensions shows MP4/AAC file support enabled, but the
application does not show aac files in the file listing.
So as far as I (new to easytag) can tell, EasyTag does NOT support aac
files.

Brian wrote in post #14: Also, if I run xscreensaver-command -lock it

This has been driving me crazy since updating to Karmic.
While some people strongly feel the need for confirmation dialogs,
others feel strongly against. Therefor there needs to be an option to
turn_on or turn_off such dialogs!

Session Preferences dialog missing, or maybe renamed and
I found a solution! It is too hidden though, and should be made
available with a simple right click like it was pre 9.10.
$ gconf-editor
apps indicator-session check suppress_logout_restart_shutdown
