Okay. Things are a bit confusing in the cloud.
The new Grub 2 is not being used, and the cloud loader reads
/boot/grub/menu.lst entries directly (you can't use update-grub to
regenerate menu.lst anymore, as the new way is the grub.cfg file, which
however is not used in the cloud).
So all this

Public bug reported:
The file:
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/mdadm-functions
is supossed to check for:
BOOT_DEGRADED=true
in file:
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/mdadm
(also as per
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SoftwareRAID)
however, it instead checks for it in the file:
Ok, I just realized that the path /conf/conf.d/mdadm is probably a path
inside the initial RAM fs image, so it may be correct.
But I had no luck setting the bootdegraded=true parameter via GRUB kopt=
(plus running update-grub in a chroot) either.
Also there is no way to modify the kernel command
Ok, I just tried the top link (the patch) on Hardy 8.04.1 X86_64 (using
dpkg -i --force-architecture) (semantic still wasn't working), then
installed the package semantik (through Synaptic) over it, and it works.
Weird, but good.

hardy: semantik does't install properly
I can confirm that this problem persists on Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 64-bit
Desktop.
@Petri, please, how do I do the same for X86_64 ? (or could you do
it?:)

@Ante - subject not adressed specifically defaults the topic/title of this

In other words - package netatalk fails to install on Hardy 8.04 32-bit.
Also, I've just tried it on Hardy 8.04.1 X86_64 generic and it installs
fine!

[apport] package netatalk failed to install/upgrade:
A dirty but functional workaround seems to be to copy the 'libjvm.so'
library from OpenJDK 7 to OpenJDK 6.

Hi, I understand the source of this issue is to avoid patent
infringement. (if i'm not mistaken, the FF3/cairo problem)
However, may I suggest one change: After the user installs
msstcorefonts (Microsoft fonts package), could the Arial font be
automatically used for the Helvetica name?
Hi, this page hits no.1 when searching for this bug, so I'll copy a
(better) workaround here:
touch /tmp/current_time
sudo find /usr/share/fonts /usr/share/X11/fonts /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d
~/.fonts ~/.fontconfig /usr/local/share/fonts -newer /tmp/current_time -exec
touch {} \;
sudo dpkg
Exactly the same thing (as in the description of this bug) happened to
me yesterday with my Kodak EasyShare DX4530, and I had to do the
following downgrade to make it work again:
libgphoto2-2: 2.3.0-0ubuntu3~edgy2 -- 2.2.1-2ubuntu4
libgphoto2-port0: 2.3.0-0ubuntu3~edgy2 -- 2.2.1-2ubuntu4
