i can confirm this bug too.
i have an GA-Z87X-UD3H with an ACL898, if i use the headphone output at my
front-panel the sound is clear.
If i use the greenport at the back of my motherboard, the sound is choppy.
This bug appears on:
openSUSE 12.3 and 13.1
Fedora 19 and 20
Ubuntu 12.04 and 13.10
Have the same issue on Gigabyte x79-UD3 (also with the ALC898)
With some testing I noticed, that ubuntu is only working on the
blue port, while windows (who could have thought) does not like
this output and only works on the green one.
Since I am using a stereo system, I just connected both
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
