I am closing this bug because it has been fixed in the latest development
version of Ubuntu - the Intrepid Ibex: Wammu dropped the btctl support with
0.26.
It won't be fixed in previous versions of Ubuntu because the package doesn't
fit the requirements for backporting. See
I confirm that after installation of Wammu (with gnome-bluetooth
installed, upon search for phone the following message is displayed:

For now, Wammu with python-btctl simply fails, while making automatic
search of bluetooth device. Didn't try the manual configuration yet.

I had the same problem and worked around it by installing the python-
bluez packet (PyBluez), since wammu uses either Gnome-Bluetooth or
PyBlyez.

Same problem here with Wammu on Feisty tryin to use Nokia E50 over Bluetooth.
Phone works perfectly with Opensync and as GPRS modem.
Is there a way to configure it manually? Using /dev/rfcomm0 didn't work... :-(
