Just got hit by this, 13.10 fully updated. Guest session has been
recently used by family members, though has also been used before too
and haven't seen this before.
There is nothing strange in /etc/passwd afaik and this user is not
visible in User settings.

Adding to my previous comment, it's nothing malicous? Only a bug?

I noticed this after I tried to launch a Guest session through the

J. Random
I have noticed the same issue (J. Random User appearing in menu) on my system
today.
I'm on Ubuntu 13.10 (32 bit).
Yesterday I re-installed SciLab via Ubuntu Software Centre - this is the
only change I made recently. Possibly automatic updates also occured in
the background.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people
I have no idea which package caused it. That's for you (the developers)
to figure out.
In my posting, I let you know already that the only 'first time' usage
of an app which may be related to this is Remmina Remote Desktop
Client. But I don't know for sure if that app caused the problem as the
