uninstalled MySQL completely and then reinstalled it, solved my problem.

retied many times, but it's not helping. Is is resolved? If not, is
there a way around it? I'm not able to install any new software.

I'm getting this error for past ~30 days. Not able to install/update
anything. Have tried /retried upgrade many times, still the same result.

this is a race when upgrading the package and starting the server as part of it.
A known issue in bug 1670629 that is worked on, the bug might have hints and
workarounds - but usually that resolves on
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.
