Oddly, I can't reproduce this today. $ gcc --version gcc (Ubuntu 7.2.0-18ubuntu2) 7.2.0 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-7/7.2.0-18ubuntu2 landed on Dec 16 and has all sorts of fixes that seem like they could have fixed some horrible low-level problem that caused the failure. Could
