Apparently there is a fix via this Compiz bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/132065 A debian package is posted, but the fix works only with the verison of mesa in Hardy. I can't test it, but it sounds promising. -- System do not respond properly after rotate the screen

I got the same bug, but rotation is working well when compiz is disabled. However after rotation under metacity, if i launch compiz screen is not refresh I can click act with keyboard but I only see my wallpaper -- System do not respond properly after rotate the screen (Weybridge)

This bug is not fixed in Hardy Alpha-2. But it shows different behavior. Rotation 180 degree will failed with the following message: $ xrandr -o 2 Failed to change the screen configuration! Rotation 90 or 270 degree will cause the screen turns black and the monitor turns into sleep mode.
