Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 20.04, a search delay of about one second was introduced (regression 
compared to Ubuntu 19.10).
v2.4.4 of xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin fixes this, in particular this commit:

I verified this by manually applying the linked patch.
There don't seem to be any changes in 2.4.3 -> 2.4.4 other than this fix and 
translation updates, so it seems safe to update.
