I take your point that we've never really found the original cause but
there isn't enough info here to find it now. Also the chances of it
getting fixed in the KDE3 version of kmail grow increasingly slim. We
may as well close this now. If the bug rears it's head again in KDE4
we'll deal

Yeah, rebuilding kmail.rc helped but question remains what made it
crash in first place?

After rebuilding my kmailrc it seems to be working fine.
For me this is now fixed.

i can confirm this!!
after today's updates, i cant copy anyting from kmail windows.
Changing any text field while replying to emails, will also make kmail
unresponsive to clicks or keyboard.
