this is not a new issue having been noticed/report later releases, but I
didn't see a filing for bionic

Ubuntu 18.04.6 ISO QA-test on
- hp dc7700 (c2d-e6320, 5gb, nvidia quadro nvs 290)

On adjusting displays to match my setup; dmesg fills with nouveau
messages, wallpaper is lost and some windows (esp. confirmation or KEEP
the changes) are no longer readable (so screen returns to prior config).

Wallpaper is currently blue, but as I type (in firefox; this bug
report), it's changing to no background etc.. as I've documented before.
I believe it's HWE kernel related but relates to the really old video
card on this box & issues with nouveau.
