Trying theme adwaita, looks better overall, but then changing the docks icon
sizes
influence the spacing bug again
with the dock at left, everything look more sane again
so with the dock at bottom the most troubles arise

After recent updates (i suspect yaru-theme) my hexchat text spacing
looks changed with too less spacing at the bottom nearby the chat area
