I gather from the discussion that this is fixed in the newer release.
If this is incorrect, please reopen the bug.
Note for upstream: If you are going to distribute a .deb, please give it
a lower revision number than would be used in Debian/Ubuntu. Using -0
would make sure that when the user
Ah, the mystery is solved. That version is indeed supposed to output the
'user requested shutdown' text at that time, now I wont go insane :)
To your problem: Yes that version does some stupid things which can
cause the crash you have experienced. Ubuntu dont really update packages
once a version
Let me know if that version fixes your problem so I know if I can close

Jimmy:
This link seems to lead to what appears to be a Windows based
(executable) file.
Are you sure this is the correct program? If so, how is this to be
applied to a Ubuntu/Linux based O/S ?
Thanks.

You received this
Jimmy:
What I did was to go into software sources and I checked the box under
the updates tab labeled as unsupported updates - Gutsy- backports.
I then went back to update manager where it prompted me to do a partial
upgrade. And one of the 4 updates that was listed was a newer version
of SUM.
Unsupported updates is probably not the best term for backports, which is
what those are. Newer versions of selected packages from later Ubuntu
releases are added to the backports repository when requested.
They are unsupported because backports does not receive formal security
support like
Very strange.
Have you been able to test it on intrepid yet?
If I understand this correctly, you press the 'restore original settings'
button, then get the popup dialog with an ok button.
When you press the ok button, the dialog does not disappear and then sum hangs.
Is that correct?
What is
Jimmy:
Yes, it displays Original settings restored. Shutting down.
Apparently, this means that the original SUM settings have been restored
(which they indeed appear to have been by either going back in and
looking at the settings or by the behavior of the machine at restart).
The shutting down

If you start it from terminal with 'sudo startupmanager' then try to
restore settings to make it hang again. Then paste the console output
here.

By the way this is in Gutsy. I have another machine upstairs, that I
installed Intrepid on recently, I will check to see if this behavior in
present on it also.
If you would send me a listing of what you need (and how to get it) I
would be glad to provide to you.
Thanks.

Why NO function on
It is there so you will have something to ask about...
More seriously though, the app hangs for you for some reason. I cannot
determine the reason and fix it if you do not send me counsole output,
python backtrace, or something to show me why it hangs.
